
SPICE CITY WINS HOME OPENER
GAME RECAP: Spice City (3-1) made a spectacular debut both on the field, and in the stands, where
some 2,000 fans showed up for their inaugural game at Danbury Arena. They were not disappointed as the
hometowners took a 5-2 lead at the half, and shut out the Arsenal – who scored twice in the first to
actually takes early leads of 1-0 and 2-1 – over the final two quarters. SPFC was led by Andre Morrison
and Karim Russell who scored two each – Russell's were both laser beams from distance – and Major
Arena Soccer League veteran Alencar Junior had two assists. Baltimore netminder Mike Mejia was a
standout in goal, turning back numerous great scoring chances from Spice City all afternoon long. Jacob
Strunc and Youness Madad were the Baltimore (1-3) goal getters. Pat Vilela got the win in goal.
